Nearly half the city budget goes to public safety, and residents say that’s the right priority. Cole will keep the police department fully funded, fully staffed, and finally give it the building space it’s been working without.
Over 70% of city spending goes to police, streets, sidewalks, and parks. That’s where it belongs. Cole will keep the focus on fundamentals and fix infrastructure on schedule, not after it fails.
About 16 cents of every property tax dollar goes to the city, roughly $75 a month for the median household. Cole will hold the line on the rate and make sure every one of those dollars shows up in services residents can see.
Cole has written a citywide newsletter since he took office, walking residents through the votes, the numbers, and the reasoning behind them. Twenty-plus issues on budgets, borrowing, the campus project, and elections.
The results are on the record. Cole helped pass the first property tax rate cuts in decades and prioritized the services and safety that we as residents in Prairie Village value so much.
